AFF’s mission is to help adoptive parents and their children form happy, well-adjusted families In order to achieve this purpose, AFF undertakes an action program that includes ... Adoption Promotion and Education. Year round, AFF conducts forums, seminars and regular information campaigns in all mass media channels to promote legal adoption. The goal of these efforts is to encourage more people to adopt legally and to get everyone in our society to have more positive views about adoption. AFF maintains a core group of members who serve as resource person or speakers on adoption. Advocacy. By lobbying for improvements in legislation and procedures, AFF seeks to simplify and streamline the adoption process, to eliminate the barriers that prevent otherwise qualified families (Filipino and expatriate) from adopting legally, and to work for equal treatment under the law for adoptees and their families. AFF is also working to assist families who would like to legalize their informal adoptions. Membership Development and Services. AFF extends support services to its growing membership in the form of a regular newsletter, referrals, peer counseling, fellowship gatherings, and seminars and workshops on adoptive parenting. Public Service. AFF works closely with DSWD and other child welfare agencies to make the legal adoption program work. AFF participates as a regular memberof various government committees that deal with the adoption process. AFF members also help to conduct training for social workers from DSWD and other agencies that handle local and inter-country adoptions.
